I … @noclassatall I would need to know what context you are speaking in. Creditors are required by the IRS to issue a 1099 – C form whenever a debt is forgiven and the forgiven amount exceeds $600.00. I agree that creditors make errors and by my experience do not issue the 1099c 100% of the time but I would bet against you getting out of paying the tax required by law. It would likely be much easier to qualify for one of the exemptions listed in our video. +3Was this answer helpful? |
